Harris also owns the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils.
Washington Commanders owner Josh Harris has amassed one of the most valuable empires in all of sports.
That's according to CNBC's Michael Ozanian, who on Tuesday released his rankings of the top 20 sports empires in 2025. The list combines the accumulated values of an owner's sports-related holdings.
Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE), which Harris co-founded alongside David Blitzer, came in at No. 3 with a value of $14.6 billion. That trails only Kroenke Sports & Entertainment ($21.2B), which owns the Los Angeles Rams, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche and Arsenal F.C., among other franchises, and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones ($15.5B).
Harris and Blitzer, both of whom hail from the world of private equity, purchased the Philadelphia 76ers back in 2011 for $287 million. And that's proven to be quite the investment, as the storied NBA franchise is now worth a whopping $4.9 billion, per CNBC's valuation.
Two years after buying the Sixers, Harris and Blitzer trekked north up the New Jersey Turnpike to purchase an NHL franchise. They paid $320 million for the New Jersey Devils in another deal that's looking to be a heist; CNBC now values the Devils at $2 billion.
Harris in 2023 then led an ownership group, which included Blitzer, Magic Johnson and others, to buy the Commanders from the much-maligned Daniel Snyder for $6.05 billion. The Commanders were valued by CNBC at $6.25 billion last year.
HBSE holds a minority stake in English Premier League club Crystal Palace F.C. and in Joe Gibbs Racing, as well. It was recently announced that a new WNBA franchise is coming to Philadelphia in 2030, and it will be owned and operated by HBSE.
