Commanders owner Josh Harris gives hilarious response to cheeky trade plea

A Commanders fan made a cheeky trade plea to owner Josh Harris at camp.

Turns out Josh Harris has a much better sense of humor than the previous Washington Commanders owner.

The majority ownership partner was in attendance for Day 6 of Washington's training camp. Harris has taken a back seat throughout a frantic offseason on the football side of things. He's still taking a keen interest, but there is no genuine meddling and certainly no throwing his weight around to ensure some critical decisions go his way.

He's entrusting the football experts to make the moves needed to get the Commanders back into contention. Harris provided exceptional resources to improve the infrastructure, supporting in any way he could while also working hard on some ambitious plans away from the gridiron.

Washington's roster looks in a much better place right now. There is still work ahead, but fans are starting to believe something great might be in the team's future after decades of languishing among the basement dwellers.

One name who's been constantly linked with the Commanders this offseason is Brandon Aiyuk. The wide receiver is holding in at training camp as he looks for a new deal. The San Francisco 49ers made what they believed to be a decent enough offer. Unfortunately, that's not an opinion held by the former first-round selection.

Commanders fans asked Josh Harris to trade for wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk

Aiyuk wants to be paid among the league's best. He also wants his money this summer before quarterback Brock Purdy becomes extension-eligible. The wideout is a close friend of Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels - who was caught in his contract crossfire after the pair spent a lot of time together this offseason - so it's not hard to see why speculation arose.

This didn't go unnoticed by a cheeky fan when he spotted Harris at camp. According to Josh Taylor of SIS Football, the supporter made a cheeky trade plea for Aiyuk in the owner's direction. His response was hilarious.

In other words, ask Adam Peters, not me.

Peters reportedly inquired about Aiyulk's availability to his old employers earlier this spring without anything concrete emerging. The Commanders are also willing to give the Arizona State product the money he's looking for based on a report from Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

The Commanders wouldn't be alone in coveting Aiyuk if the Niners became more receptive to a deal. However, that doesn't appear likely no matter how disgruntled the wideout appears right now.

San Francisco is going all in to secure another Super Bowl crown this season. Things are getting increasingly complicated with ex-Washington offensive tackle Trent Williams also seeking another contract. But for now, all their chips are going into the middle in pursuit of going one better next time around.

Besides, Harris isn't interfering. He's just signing the checks.

If Peters believes a trade for Aiyuk would get this team over the hump at some stage, the billionaire will approve it accordingly. There's trust in the process and an aligned vision that wasn't there previously. After how things descended into chaos under Dan Snyder's watch, it's the biggest breath of fresh air imaginable.

And with so much to get on with behind the scenes, trading for Aiyuk is the least of his worries.
