Every NFL team needs its top liners, veteran players and young stars to mix in, but they also need players who don't take the limelight, but consistently do their job and for the Washington Commanders, that player is Noah Brown.
Having been a consistent producer for the last three seasons (two in Dallas, one in Washington), he is perhaps one of the most reliable targets for Jayden Daniels outside of Zach Ertz and Terry McLaurin.
Not one to take the top off a defense or to have 10+ receptions, but Brown is more substance over style, having 35 receptions for 453 yards and a touchdown last season.
But now with Deebo Samuel entering the chat in the receiver room, Brown will be pushed further down the pecking order, and for Fox Sports' Ralph Vacchiano, he's a potential trade candidate as a result.
"He's a really good veteran receiver to have on the roster, and he feels like a lock for 30 catches and 450-plus yards every year," Vacchiano writes. "But he's expendable now that the Commanders traded for Deebo Samuel. Plus, clearing him out makes room for Luke McCaffrey, last year's third-rounder, to emerge as the No. 3 receiver. Plenty of teams would love a reliable veteran to fill their No. 3 role, just like the Commanders were when they acquired him from Houston last August."
The McCaffrey and Samuel angle is logical, but we can't imagine that Gallup would offer more than Brown if a game were to be played tomorrow.
However, Washington has a surplus of talent at the receiver position, and getting a pick in exchange for Brown might feel like good business for a franchise with only five selections in the upcoming draft.
But will Washington want to lose a sturdy veteran receiver who consistently makes plays when he's asked?
That remains to be seen, as you can never have enough veteran players who make a habit of making plays when they are needed, and that's Brown to a tee.
