The Washington Commanders have finally built a winning roster after decades of struggles. Now comes the hard part.
Sustaining that short success.
As the Commanders look to build off their run to the NFC Championship game last season, the organization moved quick to acquire some of the top names in the sport like All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel.
That isn't the only thing Washington should be doing, though.
As the Commanders look to look ahead to the 2025 season, the team must also look to extend some of their homegrown talent.
At the top of that list is Pro Bowl wideout Terry McLaurin. The former Ohio State product put up a career-high 13 touchdowns last season with Jayden Daniels throwing him the football. But as he enters what could be his final year in Washington, the Commanders need to do whatever they can to bring the veteran receiver back.
"Wide receiver Terry McLaurin has one more year on his deal. He remains a core part of the Commanders' plans thanks to his high-level production on the field and undisputed leadership credentials in the locker room," Riggo's Rag wrote. "Peters wants to make him part of the franchise moving forward. Resolving this matter sooner rather than later would give everyone a massive boost.
"Extending McLaurin won't be cheap, but he's worth every cent coming his way."
As a leader and star on the field, McLaurin embodies the spirit of what it means to be a Commander. Not extending him would be moronic and against what Washington has tried to push as an organization.
A deal will eventually get done. It's only a question of when.
