Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was not in a good mood last Tuesday when he ripped into the hosts of 105.3 The Fan for asking questions about the team's shortcomings to start the season.
The Cowboys had been blown out at home 47-9 by the Detroit Lions two days before. The loss dropped the Cowboys to 3-3 before their bye week.
In Week 8, the Cowboys are set to face a 3-4 San Francisco 49ers team that lost to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday by double digits.
On Monday, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed troubling injury news for his team. Wide receiver Branon Aiyuk is out for the season with an ACL and MCL tear.
Wide receiver Deebo Samuel was hospitalized for pneumonia-like symptoms. Running back Christian McCaffrey is not expected to play the 49ers. Tight end George Kittle has a sprained foot.
Those unfortunate setbacks for the 49ers will give the Cowboys a break in Week 8. Dallas is dealing with several key injuries as well, and the status of star pass rusher Micah Parsons is unknown as of Monday.
Cowboys fans on X suggested Dallas has no excuse to lose to the 49ers on Sunday after Shanahan revealed the injury updates.
"Cowboys better show up this week vs the 49ers," posted one fan. "No Deebo No Ayuik No Mccaffery No Excuses…"
"Hope Deebo recovers," wrote another. "Pneumonia is nothing to play with, especially with fluid in his lungs With that said. If the Cowboys can't beat the 49ers with no Aiyuk, Mccaffery, Deebo, Kittle, Jennings, and possibly no Trent Williams (if he's suspended) they never will."
"No Deebo, CMC, Aiyuk and maybe Kittle Sunday. Maybe the Cowboys lose by only 20 as opposed to 40 Sunday," suggested another.
"I am not a big fan of Jerry or McCarthy or the Cowboys, but Give me Dallas +5.5," one person commented. "The Cowboys off a bye and a spanking. I think it’s too many points with what the 49ers are dealing with right now."
"The Cowboys won't be fully healthy on Sunday night," wrote another. "But that's still not going to be an excuse if they show up and manage to still get blown out by the 49ers."
