Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb Speaks Out About Mike McCarthy Firing Rumors

Dallas Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb has talked about his admiration for head coach Mike McCarthy.

ARLINGTON - The 2024 season has been trying for players, not to mention head coach Mike McCarthy, who is in a lame-duck year.

With no assurances over his future in Dallas and in the middle of a five-game losing streak, the writing was on the wall - but then last week's wild Washington Commanders win happened.

The doom and gloom lifted around The Star, and owner Jerry Jones grabbed headlines (with intent!) by saying it wouldn't be "crazy" to think McCarthy would still be in Dallas in 2025.

For receiver CeeDee Lamb, when it comes to how McCarthy has handled what has been tough year, he revealed his love for his coach.

"He's a player's coach," Lamb said. "We all love him, everything that he does for the team and as far as leading us, just having a confidence and everything that he's willing to put on the line for us, we love every bit of it. As for Jerry and all those situations, they ain't got nothing to do with me, don't try to put me in it ...

"But I love Mike, that's for sure."

So Lamb wants no part of Jerry's comments but is fully behind his head coach.

Our we've often stated that if a head coach is to be removed, one of three things needs to happen, and one is the coach losing the locker room.

It's clear McCarthy hasn't.

From KaVonate Turpin talking about the relationship he has with McCarthy after the Commanders win to Dak Prescott's first support of the coach to now Lamb speaking out, it appears this locker room is still very much behind "Big Mike" despite the trials and tribulations the team has gone through this year.

That doesn't mean the locker room gets a vote on 2025, of course. Still ... Despite the overwhelming feeling that 2024 will be McCarthy's last as a Cowboy, his players are fighting for him right to the end. Make of that, what you will.
