Cowboys Coach Mike McCarthy Reveals 1 Major 'Embarrassment' In Video Going Viral

Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy revealed he was "embarrassed by viral tablet slam during his team's loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

FRISCO — The 2024 season has not unfolded as planned for the Dallas Cowboys and head coach Mike McCarthy. Halfway through the campaign, it has become clear this group was ill prepared for this season.

Seemingly everything that could go wrong has indeed gone wrong for the Cowboys. A lackluster offseason plays a role in their struggles along with some questionable strategic and schematic shortcomings that have put this team at the bottom of the league in several categories.

In addition, injuries have piled up in abundance of late for Dallas, now losing Dak Prescott for what could be an indefinite period. Micah Parsons has missed half the season thus far and CeeDee Lamb is nursing a shoulder injury.

Sunday brought about the perfect storm of all these frustrations and it reflected in McCarthy's behavior. During the loss to the Atlanta Falcons, he was shown slamming a tablet onto the ground, an act he regrets in the aftermath of the game.

“I’m embarrassed by it. It’s something that at my age, clearly there is no excuse for. That’s not what I represent. I’m embarrassed as the leader of this team. That was definitely a moment that I wish I had back," he said.

While the tablet temper tantrum was certainly inappropriate for McCarthy, it is also easy to see how and why those emotions boiled over. He is not the first coach to lose his cool on the sidelines nor will he be the last. ... but no matter what, obviously this was destined to be a video gone viral.

However, the fact remains he has a job to do and that means continuing to lead despite the adversity surrounding the Cowboys. The expectations for this group may change with Prescott sidelined for the foreseeable future.

But if they want any chance of contending down the stretch, they need to find some kind of momentum.

Dallas will try to accomplish that goal starting Sunday when they host the Philadelphia Eagles in their first of two matchups with their vaunted NFC East rival.
