Cowboys Hint At Major Roster Move Coming To Fix ‘Explosive’ Problem

We have known for the best part of 12 months that the Dallas Cowboys need to get CeeDee Lamb some help, given that No. 88 was the offense last season.

Yes, Lamb is an All-Pro talent, but just because he can do it all himself doesn't mean he should. The Cowboys look to be adding his running mate in the draft, and several options are on the table.

But at the annual league meeting, Cowboys COO Stephen Jones has made a habit of "liking" what the franchise has done this offseason, and now we have Jones, who maintains his faith in a receiver room that is Lamb or bust as things stand.

"I like our room," Jones said. "We added [Jonathan] Mingo late in the year last year, I think him having a full offseason to work with Dak…We really liked him when he came out of Ole Miss. I really feel like he has a lot of upside. I certainly like our young guys, [Ryan] Flournoy. Obviously, Turpin brings a little something to the mix with his juice and explosion.

"I really like our room, but at the same time losing [Brandin] Cooks in free agency, we're still open."

That won't sit well with Dallas fans. ... but Jones added that the team needs an "explosive No. 2'' receiver.

So maybe Cowboys Nation is pacified there.

It was on full display last season how defenses made someone other than Lamb beat them, and for the most part, it was easy to take the Cowboys' No. 1 weapon away.

Add a good second receiver, and that becomes more difficult.

But "liking" the room? If the Cowboys are serious about winning, aside from the potential upside of several players, there isn't too much to "like" about this receiver room making serious waves in 2025. Of course, we are happy to be proven wrong.

Jalen Tolbert, Jalen Brooks, Ryan Flournoy, KaVontae Turpin, and Jonathan Mingo to go with CeeDee as Dak Prescott's weapons. That won't be getting it done. You are paying top-of-the-market money to Dak and Ceedee - get them proper help.

Jones "likes" the receiver room and has faith in the younger players taking a step forward in 2025. But if the franchise is serious about winning, looking at that depth chart behind Lamb, it needs a serious injection of quality talent.
