The Dallas Cowboys appear to be narrowing their focus on which way they will go with the No. 12 pick.
For most, that means the franchise will be drafting a receiver, with the need to find CeeDee Lamb some help in the passing game an urgent priority.
Tetairoa McMillan, Matthew Golden, and Emeka Egbuka loom as the big contenders for the Cowboys if they are indeed going to draft Lamb's running mate. … and all three of them are at The Star right now amid 30 Visits time.
But not everyone is sold on a receiver at No. 12. Others think defensive line, some offensive line, running back, and even corner, so there are a host of ways the franchise could go.
For NFL.com's Chad Reuter, he's named ideal players for teams to take in the upcoming draft, and in the first round, for Dallas, it's Tetairoa McMillan.
"The Cowboys have not had two wide receivers log 800-plus receiving yards in the same season since CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper in 2021 -- so it would not be a surprise if they locked up McMillan with their first pick to pair with Lamb," Reuter writes. "McMillan's size and agility would make him a downfield threat as well as a reliable target over the middle for quarterback Dak Prescott."
That does feel like an "ideal" selection for the Cowboys, considering the player and the need, McMillan would step straight into the No. 2 role and be a consistent target for Dak Prescott.
Granted, there are several mock drafts that don't have "Tet" making it to No. 12, but if he is still on the board, Dallas will be quick to turn that draft card in.
Having a player like McMillan, who possesses elite ball skills and good speed, who uses his size to his advantage, Dak could have a genuine long-range weapon at his disposal.
Standing at 6' 4’’, McMillan would also be a matchup nightmare anywhere on the field, but especially in the red zone, a place Dallas struggled last season, so that is another bow to Tet's game.
The Cowboys need a receiver, and the most logical player to take if available is McMillan, who could create an "ideal" one-two punch with Lamb.
