Cowboys' Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders Signings Feed Bold 'No-Limit' Prediction

Dallas Cowboys running back Javonte Williams is looking to bring a solid dynamic to the offense with fellow newcomer Miles Sanders.

The Dallas Cowboys' offseason has seen mostly defensive players come through The Star's doors in free agency, with only four being offensive players.

But two of them are running backs, with Javonte Williams signing first, followed by Miles Sanders. The two now make up a backfield along with Malik Davis and Deuce Vaughn.

While the Cowboys are likely to select a running back in the draft, Williams and Sanders could be battling it out for a starter or backup role in 2025.

But for Williams, what does he envision a Sanders tandem would look like under Brian Schottenheimer?

“I mean the sky's the limit," Williams said in a bold prediction. "I've been watching Miles since he was at Penn State, he was with the Eagles and a little bit at Carolina, I always respected his game, nothing but respect. I'm just ready to get in here and compete with him and grind.”

In three of Williams' four NFL seasons, he's surpassed 500 rushing yards and at least three touchdowns while being used as a receiver out of the backfield and a great pass protector, which would have appealed to Schotty.

As for Sanders, 2024 was his worst as a pro with the Carolina Panthers, totaling just 205 yards and two touchdowns from 11 games as an ankle injury robbed him of six games. But Miles does have skins on the wall with a 1,259-yard, 11-touchdown season in 2022 while having two 800+ yard seasons as well.

Both come to Dallas with a chip on their shoulder with one-year prove-it deals, and with a new offensive style being implemented by Schottenheimer, Williams, and Sanders will be doing their part to give Dak Prescott a solid run game to fall back on in 2025.

Williams says the sky's the limit for the pair, but we will settle for a competent run game in Schottenheimer's offense.
