We all remember the X exchange between Dallas Cowboys' Micah Parsons and the outgoing DeMarcus Lawrence, don't we?
Lawrence stated in an interview that he wouldn't win a Super Bowl in Dallas. Parsons responded by calling D-Law's comments "Clown (expletive)." The back-and-forth continued with Lawrence doubling down, stating, "Maybe if you spent less time tweeting and more time winning, I wouldn't have left."
Oh boy, that is quite the exchange.
But we haven't heard from Micah since that incident happened...until now.
At the annual Cowboys Reliant HR Derby, Parsons offered his side of the story.
"For me, it's all about setting the tone, about what the locker room is," Parsons said. "We ain't going to put up with nothing, we aren't going to tolerate the dumb stuff that was going on. It's a new regime, new culture, I'm not saying other guys weren't culture builders, some things are just tired. Obviously, if something isn't working, it's good that you got new guys to fix it, me, CeeDee, Dak."
With Parsons' want to be a defensive leader under new coordinator Matt Eberflus, it is clear that Micah wanted to plant his stake in the ground, biting back at Lawrence.
The All-Pro then added how things have already begun to shift for the better since the winds of change have blown through The Star.
"Just a new regime, guys are going to get closer, we're going to relate," Parsons added. "It's hard when you got a bunch of guys that are older, and it's hard to get that relationship. But now, we've all came in together, we all around the same age, hang out more. You saw us working out together, that's not something I've seen or been apart of in the past unless you went to OTAs."
Hmm, okay, Micah, we get it.
While the handing over of the baton was rather messy and called into question the locker room "brotherhood," it is clear that Parsons is already noticing differences in the early phase of Brian Schottenheimer's regime.
Will that translate to on-field success? That is unknown, but what isn't is that this new leadership regime, of which Parsons is one of the figureheads, won't back down from anything.
And that includes parting shots from an ex-player.
