Dallas Cowboys pass-rushing linebacker Micah Parsons wants to be the new defensive leader of Brian Schottenheimer's regime, and he might have just gotten his chance to be exactly that.
In the second round of the NFL Draft, the Cowboys selected Boston College edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku, who comes to The Star off the back of a 16.5 sack, 21 tackle for loss season last year.
With a decent arsenal of pass rushers, including Parsons, Sam Williams, Payton Turner, and Marshawn Kneeland, Ezeiruaku is ready to be Micah's understudy as he looks to forge his path as a Cowboy.
“It's very exciting, and it and it's going to be very exciting to learn from somebody like Micah," Ezeiruaku said on the Draft Show. "I think that'll be extremely pivotal and important to my development, and with the coaching staff that's here, I'm just excited to get to work."
With Ezeiruaku on one side of the line and Parsons on the other, along with the defensive line rotation, coordinator Matt Eberflus has quite the bag of tricks to throw at offenses.
But Ezeiruaku learning under Micah is the headline here.
Parsons wants to be a locker room leader, and now he has a young defensive stud to help mold into a consistent destroyer of quarterbacks for the Cowboys. Granted, it won't all be on Micah, with Aaron Whitecotton also playing a big role, but Parsons will have the chance to coach up Donovan.
And that is exciting, because Parsons is one of the best defenders in football, and who better to learn from than the Lion?
No wonder Ezeiruaku is excited.
