Cowboys' Micah Parsons Not Playing Waiting Game In Contract Talks

Dallas Cowboys' Micah Parsons isn't waiting for more leaves to drop in his contract talks.

Dallas Cowboys' pass-rushing sensation Micah Parsons is still without his new contract, which, for some, is rather puzzling. We know what Micah will roughly get, so do the Cowboys, which begs the question: Why is it taking so long?

We have seen with the renewals of Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb that big contracts take time, and for Parsons, when it could have him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, all the finer details like guaranteed money have to be set.

But for those who think Parsons is waiting for more "leaves to fall" with T.J. Watt wanting a new contract too, you're mistaken.

“No, because they numbers got nothing to do with mine, and my numbers ain’t got nothing to do with them,” Parsons said via pennlive, com. “Like, I’m younger than Hendrickson. I mean, Hutchinson’s coming off an injury. Everyone’s circumstances is completely different. Hutch is coming off his third year. Usually guys wait four years. So, it just all depends, Watt. I mean, he’s up there with Myles (Garrett). So, you know, it’s different. Everyone’s circumstance is different.”

So, if it isn't that, what's the hold-up?

Micah wants to be in Dallas, and we know that owner Jerry Jones wants Parsons to be the player he will be paid as. Perhaps seeing No. 11 in training camp and how he takes on his new leadership role is what Jerry is waiting for.

In truth, that shouldn't matter because if the Cowboys don't know what Micah is about by now, after four years, they never will.

A deal - in the $40 million APY range - will get done eventually; it is just a matter of how long things will unnecessarily drag out before it does.
