Cowboys' Micah Parsons 'Richest-Ever' Contract Update Revealed by Insider

Dallas Cowboys' Micah Parsons is still awaiting a new contract this offseason. And insider Mike Fisher believes he knows where this is going.

This offseason for the Dallas Cowboys, while positive in so many aspects, has been dominated by the Micah Parsons contract "saga," if you want to call it that.

With some details in place, all that is reportedly left to do is for owner Jerry Jones to pick up the phone and call Micah's agent to get things rolling, which has yet to happen.

Training camp has always been the loose deadline in contract talks, and while Parsons did state that he will be in Oxnard, exactly in what capacity is unknown.

For most, the waiting on Micah's extension doesn't seem wise with at least $40 million APY being the number, give or take a couple of million. ...

Or, better said, let's go with "give a couple of million.''

CowboysCountry.com insider Mike Fisher offers a clued-in prediction for where this is going.

"It's inevitable and it's almost inarguable,'' Fish reports. "Micah is going to sign the richest-ever non-QB contract in NFL history.''

Fisher was the first to report that Parsons might like a five-year deal in the $200 million range ... with that price tag now possibly rising.

Meanwhile, per Bleacher Report, Micah's extension is the most important one to get done.

"Parsons skipped voluntary OTAs and rejoined the team for mandatory minicamp," Bleacher Report writes. "According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, his camp and the Cowboys disagree on the length of an extension, though he expects both sides to eventually come to terms on a new deal. Parsons earned the 2021 Defensive Rookie of the Year award, and he's been an All-Pro or Pro Bowler every year in the league. The Cowboys will soon make him the NFL's highest-paid non-quarterback.”

Granted, there are others on the Dallas roster who could get new deals here as well. George Pickens, DaRon Bland, Brandon Aubrey, and Tyler Smith are all deserving ... but it is an easy exercise to put Parsons at the top of the list.

Such is his value as a player, but now, under Brian Schottenheimer, off the field too, as a new leader of the locker room, Micah getting tied down to a new contract would put the finishing touches on what has been a largely positive and productive offseason.

But until that happens, there will be an empty feeling among Cowboys Nation as No. 11 awaits his new deal.

Which, for some, should have happened weeks ago. ... and which to Fish is "inevitable and inarguable.''
