Cowboys Micah Parsons Trade Nonsense Swirls

FRISCO — It appears the Dallas Cowboys are ready to lead the familiar song and dance they perform any time a major contract extension is due. In fact, fans got a second helping of the drama last summer when both Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb were waiting on their own deals. 

This time around, defensive star Micah Parsons shares the dance floor here though he and his camp are no willing partner, especially after the backhanded moves put on his agent a few weeks ago. 

Jerry Jones has talked to Parsons on multiple occasions with the vibe going for a while that there was a handshake agreement in place. Of course those discussions were had without Parsons' agent present and the saga has carried on. 

Here's the thing. While the negotiations and the back and forth are great for theater, Parsons is not going anywhere. He's made that clear and Cowboys leadership echoes those sentiments. 

But until a pen goes to paper, anything is possible. That's why Parsons has been labeled as one of the Cowboys' most tradable assets along with cornerback Da'Ron Bland. 

"However, most of those questions are on defense. Micah Parsons' contract extension is going to be a story until there's a resolution. He's one of the best players in the game, and he's earned the right to break records when he finally gets a new deal," Bleacher Report's Alex Ballentine writes.

"In all likelihood, the Cowboys will eventually strike a deal with Parsons. However, there's no doubt they would get a historic return if they were open to trading him."

Anything is possible in the NFL, sure. But while Parsons remains without his extension, he is simply not a player the Cowboys should ever consider trading, nor have they to this point. 

Unfortunately, eyebrows will continue to raise the longer this drags on even with all involved being used to this process by now. Odds are, the Cowboys and Parsons come to terms within the next few months and have him locked in by the time the regular season begins. 

Until then, the speculation marches forward and the music continues to play.
