Cowboys’ Most Likely Hall of Famer Isn’t Who You Think

The Dallas Cowboys are gearing up for a huge 2025-26 season, and it will be the one that really determines the future of the franchise. This is “America’s Team,” and they have so many followers around the country and world, so hopefully new head coach Brian Schottenheimer and the crew will deliver.

The Cowboys have a handful of players who are totally Hall of Fame worthy. A few of those players who come to mind include franchise quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. Both of those players could be in the Hall of Fame one day, but there’s one player who actually may have a better chance.

Ahead of the start of the regular 2025-26 season, in a feature for CBS Sports published on Saturday, Aug. 2, Bryan DeArdo predicts one Hall of Famer for each NFL team. Can you guess who he picked from the Cowboys?

A Dallas Cowboys Future Hall of Famer

In the CBS Sports feature, DeArdo notes that there’s “no official criteria when determining who is enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. That being said, based on who has and who hasn’t been enshrined over the past 50 years, it’s safe to say that there are certain things the voters look at when determining who should get a bronze bust and a gold jacket.”

For the piece, DeArdo used “interpretation of some of the unspoken criteria used when determining who gets into the Hall of Fame,” and he created a tally of each NFL team’s player with the best chance to make it into the Hall.

So, who did he pick for the Cowboys? Micah Parsons, assuming that he stays with the team. In the feature, he notes that Parsons is not a lock yet, but he’s trending in the right direction. Also, he says “Parsons’ career appears to be at a crossroads.”

“Parsons’ career took an interesting turn with his recent trade request,” he adds. “Regardless of where he plays next, Parsons has already put himself in a good position to be a future Hall of Famer. He was a Pro Bowler each of his first four years, a two-time All-Pro and the 2021 Defensive Rookie of the Year.”

The Best Quarterback in the NFL

While Prescott wasn’t named as the most likely, he did get some love in a recent quarterback roundup. In a piece published on Friday, Aug. 1, by Fox Sports, they named Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills the top signal-caller in the league but also had Prescott as No. 10.

“Prescott has a lot to prove coming into the 2024 season after a torn hamstring cut his 2024 campaign short,” they note. “But the numbers he posted in 2023 were enough to show the caliber of quarterback he is.”

They add, “During that season, he completed 69.5% of his passes for 4,516 yards and 36 touchdowns. Prescott will also benefit from one of the strongest groups of surrounding talent he’s had in his career as the Cowboys traded for wide receiver George Pickens to go alongside CeeDee Lamb.”

So, Prescott is the real deal. We can’t wait to watch him in action this season.
