Cowboys Moving All-Pro KaVontae Turpin In New 'Dynamic' Plan

Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer has plans for speedy receiver KaVontae Turpin in 2025.

KaVontae Turpin

Dallas Cowboys speed merchant KaVontae Turpin used to be a one-trick pony as a returner, and what a trick it was as he has been named an All-Pro at the position.

But over the past couple of seasons, Turpin, who former Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy called a rocketship with the football in his hands, has been dabbling in receiver work.

And the results have come.

Last season, Turpin posted 420 yards and two touchdowns from 31 receptions to be a viable option in McCarthy's offense.

But now that Brian Schottenheimer is the new head coach and play-caller, it appears that he already has a plan for Turpin in 2025.

"I think he's a dynamic weapon," Schottenheimer said of Turpin. "I can't say enough about his growth in the understanding of the football scheme over the last couple years. The game-changing plays he's made for us, dynamic weapon. There's really nothing he can't do, we're moving him in positions that two years ago we would [think] I don't know if that would work out.

"Incredible talent, but it's awesome to see him maturing as a football player."

Having slowly increased his reps as an offensive weapon? While special teams as a returner is still his bread and butter - he's an All-Pro there - given his sheer speed, Turpin has to be used on offense.

And it's clear that Schottenheimer, much like McCarthy before him, has a plan to use Turpin as one of Dak Prescott's weapons. ...

But, it seems, a different plan.

A genuine threat for a home run anytime he gets the ball in his hands, we know how much Schottenheimer likes speed, and Turpin's continued development as a receiver might see this rocketship take off in 2025.
