The Dallas Cowboys' run game has been an interesting watch since training camp began with the battle for spots a hotly contested one.
And here we are, nearly a week into practices in Oxnard, and so far, each player has shown flashes. Whether that be the veterans in Miles Sanders and Javonte Williams ripping off good runs, or rookie Jaydon Blue with his receiving ability, Hunter Luepke and his versatility, everyone appears to be taking their chances.
But because of that, no one is standing out from the crowd, which can be a good and bad thing; however, for offensive coordinator Klayton Adams, he likes the group he's working with.
“I really like our running back group,” Adams said. “ I think that there's two experienced vets in there that you can tell have played a lot of football and I think there's good young talent. So all of them have a little bit of a different dynamic to them. But, I'm excited about the different roles that can be carved out and excited to see who can put themselves ahead in that group.”
With each back offering something different, we get the sense that all could see the field at some point in 2025.
Sanders and Williams loom as the top two, but Blue has been making waves at camp, both as a runner and receiver, while Brian Schottenheimer has been raving over Hunter Luepke and his versatility and what that can do for the offense.
So, there are plenty of levers to pull in the rushing attack, and given the resources poured into it from a coaching and personnel standpoint, the run game is going to have to produce in 2025.
But who will be leading the charge?
That, my friends, might just be the top question of training camp.
