Cowboys now have perfect buy-low trade opportunity on former draft crush

The Dallas Cowboys' roster is in a much better position following the NFL Draft. They shored up question marks along their offensive and defensive lines and even got stronger at linebacker and cornerback with their selections of Maris Liufau and Caelen Carson on day two and three, respectively.

Given how many holes the Cowboys had coming into the offseason, though, they were never going to plug all of them in the draft. Multiple positions have room for improvement. Running back goes without saying, but fans would also love to see Dallas go out and sign a defensive tackle.

Patrik Walker of the team's official website mentioned DL Calais Campbell as a potential target. Campbell's ability to disrupt play on the edge and in the trenches would move mountains for Mike Zimmer.

If the Cowboys want to add more firepower on the offensive side of the ball, they suddenly have a perfect buy-low trade opportunity on a former draft crush after free agent wide receiver Tyler Boyd met with the Titans.

There's a high possibility that Burks gets moved this summer. The Titans have overhauled their receiver room this offseason. They spent a king's ransom on Calvin Ridley to complement No. 1 option DeAndre Hopkins. Their interest in Boyd speaks volumes about their lack of faith in Burks.

The Titans drafted Burks with the No. 18 overall pick in the 2022 draft. Injuries have hindered his development, as he's played 22 games in two seasons with little production to show for it: 49 catches for 655 yards and one touchdown.

The Cowboys were very high on Burks coming out of Arkansas. He was a 30 visit and they reportedly ranked him among their top-20 overall prospects in the 2022 class. It's hard to say if they would've taken Burks if he was available, but Tyler Smith turned out to be a home run pick for them.

Given the system he played in at Arkansas, Burks' slow-moving development isn't a surprise. Granted, it's moving slower than many expected, but he's flashed potential when healthy. As a rookie, the former Razorback posted 5.4 yards after the catch and caught nearly 60% of his contested targets.

Burks needs to stay on the field first and foremost, but a move away from Tennessee could do wonders for his career arc. The Titans have boasted woeful QB play in his first two seasons. Having just turned 24 in March, Burks can still mold into a WR that was worthy of a first-round pick.

What better place than Dallas, which already has a top-flight quarterback in Dak Prescott and sorely needs a third receiver behind CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks?
