Micah Parsons has made it clear that he doesn't want to wait for his contract extension with the Dallas Cowboys.
With some thinking that Parsons wants to be the highest-paid non-quarterback in football, even Micah has stated that he isn't looking for that. So No. 11 is saying all the right things.
Wants to remain in Dallas, tick. He wants his future sorted out soon to help in free agency, tick. And isn't looking to break the bank, tick.
But that is one side of the negotiations, with the Dallas front office not exactly having the best of times regarding extending star players, and we have to look no further than Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb last offseason as two occasions that saw the Cowboys stumble through the offseason.
However, the one question Cowboys Nation wants to know is, will this offseason be different with Micah?
"There's always extenuating circumstances to these things. Every contract negotiation is different," Jones said via ESPN's Todd Archer. "[With Lamb], there were other receivers trying to get their deals done, and some of them still haven't gotten those deals done ... The CeeDee deal was just different. We'll just see how Micah's deal goes.
"I don't necessarily know that there's a lot of extenuating situations out there that would [prevent] us from being able to get our hands around something with Micah, but we'll see."
So there you have it. There isn't really anything stopping the Cowboys from extending Micah...except the Cowboys.
Given the state of the roster and the need for free agency additions, Dallas can't wait until the last minute as it did last offseason with Dak and CeeDee to sign Parsons.
He doesn't want that, nor do we.
Oddly enough, the path forward couldn't be clearer for the Cowboys front office. However, as we have come to expect, even the most straightforward decision seems to have several oddities attached when Dallas is involved.
But Micah has made it clear he doesn't want this to drag on, but the longer it does, the longer the Cowboys will be "above the fold," and that's where Jerry Jones loves his team to be.
The time for nickel-and-diming is over. This is a new-look Cowboys coaching staff in 2025, so why not start with a new-look way of doing things from the front office?
