While this is the case, there are some fantastic pieces in place to help the team turn things around in 2025. The Cowboys have Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Jake Ferguson in place along with a few other pieces.
It wouldn't be shocking to see the Cowboys bring in a running back and another receiver seems like a necessity as well. The Cowboys have the No. 12 in the upcoming draft and Newsweek's Gavino Borquez predicted the team will select Missouri receiver Luther Burden III in a possible game-changing move.
"Luther Burden | WR | Missouri," Borquez said. "The Cowboys could take Ashton Jeanty, but they resort to a wide receiver to complement CeeDee Lamb and give Dak Prescott another target. Burden is a lethal weapon who plays with slick separation skills, elusiveness, and creativity when the ball is in his hands."
Burden is just 21 years old and would be a perfect complement to Lamb. He had 1,212 receiving yards in 2023 and 676 in 2024. He's widely considered to be the top or second-best receiver in this draft class.
Adding him would be a game-changing move because he has No. 1 receiver upside and clearly would be cheap on a rookie deal so the team wouldn't have to go out and sign someone in free agency. They could add the receiving talent they need without making things even more difficult with the cap. Dallas could then spend elsewhere to improve the roster further.
This seems like a perfect idea.
