Cowboys Star Asking For Prayers After Loss to Bengals

The Dallas Cowboys lost to the Cincinnati Bengals 27-20 in dramatic fashion on "Monday Night Football," but they may have taken an even bigger hit after linebacker DeMarvion Overshown suffered a potentially serious knee injury.

The turning point in the game came when the Cowboys blocked a Bengals' punt late in the fourth quarter. However, cornerback Amani Oruwariye attempted to scoop the ball up but muffed it, leading to Cincinnati recovering and giving it a fresh set of downs. Ja'Marr Chase scored a minute later, giving the Bengals the lead.

However, this may not be Mike McCarthy and the Cowboys' biggest concern.

Overshown, who has become an emerging star for the Dallas defense, left the game early in the fourth quarter after injuring his knee. The initial concern is that Overshown suffered a torn ACL, the same injury that forced him to miss the entire 2023 season.

After the loss, Overshown took to social media to ask for prayers following his new injury.

"Wouldn’t want this for anyone else!" Overshown wrote on X. "One of God’s Toughest Soldiers Keep me in your prayers…"

Sure enough, NFL fans granted his request, sending their prayers in the comments.

"Praying for a speedy recovery young blood," one fan said. "You're gonna do great things in this league."

If this is, in fact, a season-ending injury, Overshown had a stellar first season of action in Dallas. The linebacker tallied 90 tackles (second-most on the team), five sacks, one forced fumble and one interception.

Overshown was the No. 90 pick in the 2023 NFL draft. During the second preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks last year, the star tore his left ACL, leaving him out for the remainder of the season. Hopefully, the injury is not as serious and he can return soon.

"Prayers up!" added another. "You’ll be back and better than ever!"

"Get healthy brother … Prayers Up," wrote a third.

"Prayers up 13, keep fighting warrior!" commented a fourth.
