The Washington Commanders feel-good story is so captivating that even their rivals can longer talk bad about them.
In the wake of last Sunday's Hail Mary(land) miracle touchdown that beat the Chicago Bears Northwest Stadium, everyone is heaping even more praise on the Commanders. Even, that is, the hated Dallas Cowboys.
On his weekly The Edge podcast, Cowboys' All-Pro pass-rusher Micah Parsons spent time this week singing the praises of Washington star rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. Along with his guest, former All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs, the two Cowboys also seemed to lament that their former defensive coordinator - Dan Quinn - was now working his magic as head coach of the Commanders.
"Confidence, that's what Dan represents," Parsons said. "People don't realize how high the morale he had on our team. The spirit he gave the defense. The energy he kind of gave all the players. Shark week. Fight night. Showing us boxing clips.
"And I see it in that Commanders team now."
While the Cowboys and defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer are floundering at 3-4 after allowing 77 points the last two weeks, Quinn and the Commanders sit atop the NFC East at 6-2.
"Dan had me ready to run through a wall," said Diggs. "The Commanders don't have superstars, but they play as a team and they play hard for one another. They look good."
As for Daniels, both players were impressed by his unique combination of patience and athleticism.
"It's about confidence," Diggs said. "His coach is putting confidence in him."
Added Parsons, "His composure ... he can break out of sacks and he's putting up amazing numbers.
"And we still play them twice."
The Commanders play the Cowboys twice in the final seven weeks: Nov. 24 in Arlington and Week 18 in D.C.
