Dallas Cowboys left guard Tyler Smith is pleased with the offensive line depth after another win, this time over the New York Giants.
FRISCO - The Dallas Cowboys have been hit hard by the injury bug this season, and the offensive line has suffered.
With Tyler Guyton, Zack Martin, and Tyler Smith all missing time at some point, plus having a rookie center in Cooper Beebe, that isn't ideal. But this Cowboys offensive line room doesn't go down without a fight.
T.J. Bass, Brock Hoffman, Chuma Edoga, and Asim Richards have all contributed to keeping things ticking over.
The offensive line's play has been far better in the last two weeks, and a surprising stat is that Cooper Rush has only been sacked once. Plus, the offensive line didn't give up any pressure against the New York Giants, either.
And that leaves Tyler Smith happy with the depth along the offensive line.
“If any of us go down, like not only do I have my brother's back, but he has mine, so we come in there, there's no drop-off, straight domination,” Smith said.
It was "straight domination" against the Giants as the Cowboys' offensive line pushed the Giants' defense around and allowed Rico Dowdle to rush for 112 yards and a touchdown, while also keeping Rush clean in the pocket.
That equals a great day.
It is still unknown if Martin will return against the Cincinnati Bengals, but there can be no denying that the younger brigade of Hoffman and Bass, along with Edoga, has played to a level that means some are bullish about their futures going into 2025 as depth pieces.
And with more "domination" in the last few weeks of the season, the Cowboys might have found a few key offensive line pieces for the future.
