Craig Counsell Was Just Thrown Out from the Dugout … by the First Base Umpire - hong nhung

Well you don’t see that very often. Craig Counsell was just thrown out of the game from inside the Cubs dugout *by the FIRST BASE umpire* after a check-swing appeal. Here’s what happened.

Craig Counsell Was Just Thrown Out from the Dugout ... by the First Base Umpire - Bleacher Nation

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Shota Imanaga got himself into some trouble, loading the bases for Ronald Acuña Jr, who found himself in a 2-1 count when he tried to check his swing.

The home plate umpire went for the appeal, but it did not go the Cubs way. You be the judge.

And perhaps because it felt like Imanaga has been squeezed all evening, Craig Counsell started chirping from the dugout. And the first base umpire, who just made the call, was not having any of it. He got weirdly upset very quickly and tossed Counsell from 150 feet away.

Counsell then took a deliberately slow walk out to first to give him a piece of his mind before retiring for the evening. This was the first time Counsell has been thrown out as manager of the Cubs.

Shota Imanaga eventually got out of the inning without giving up any runs.
