The Dallas Cowboys are now 3-5 on the 2024 NFL season after suffering a 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Week 9.
After playing the first three quarters of the game, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was ruled out for the final 15 minutes of action due to a hamstring injury.
It is unclear when Prescott got hurt, but many fans have pinpointed a pass on his final drive of the contest where it appeared he came up limping after making a simple throw toward the sideline.
Following the loss, Prescott spoke to the media and provided an update on his hamstring, one that would leave many nervous for the former Mississippi State star's future.
“I felt something pull," Prescott said. "I felt something I’ve never felt.”
According to The Athletic's Jon Machota, even Dallas owner and general manager Jerry Jones is "concerned" for his $240M quarterback.
Prescott had a decent game against the Atlanta Falcons, completing 18-of-24 passes for 133 yards and a touchdown. When the medical staff decided to hold him out for the final quarter, backup Cooper Rush came in with his team down 14 to attempt a comeback. He got Dallas in the end zone and converted a two-point try, but Dallas failed to recover an onside kick with 1:28 remaining, ultimately ending the game.
Prescott has done everything in his power to keep the Cowboys' playoff hopes alive, but with many injuries on defense, including Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence and Daron Bland, along with the lackluster running game (ranking last in the NFL), the All-Pro hasn't received much help.
Now, with Prescott's future uncertain, the Cowboys could be entering full panic mode. Their next three games don't provide any sense of hope as they face the Philadelphia Eagles, Houston Texans and Washington Commanders, all of which seem to be Super Bowl contenders.
