Dallas Cowboys Player Makes Franchise History With New Jersey Number

When it comes to jersey numbers in the Dallas Cowboys the ones that usually come to mind first are 88 for the quartet of great wide receivers (Drew Pearson, Michael Irvin, Dez Bryant, CeeDee Lamb), Troy Aikman's No. 8, Roger Staubach's No. 12 or Emmitt Smith's 22.

But one Dallas Cowboys player intends to carve out his own piece of Cowboys history with his new jersey number.

This week, the Cowboys announced that third-year linebacker DeMarvion Overshown will be wearing the No. 0 for the 2025 NFL season. In doing so, he becomes the first player in the organization's entire history to wear that number.

Speaking to the team's official website, Overshown spoke about how happy he was to be making history in that way.

"As soon as they changed the policy where you can now wear No. 0 in the NFL, I just knew it was meant to be," Overshown said. "Being the first one to wear it at Texas, growing up a Longhorn and a Cowboy in the great state of Texas — I wear it as a badge of honor. It's not too many people that get to say they're the first to do anything, and to say I'm the first wear No. 0 at Texas and the first to do it in Dallas Cowboys' history, that's a badge of honor."

Overshown was very passionate about getting the chance to be Dallas' "Agent 0." He compared being able to put that jersey on to "Superman putting on his cape."

"It's just like when Superman put on his cape, when I put that No. 0 on, it's really Agent 0 out there," he said.

Overshown was a breakout star for the Cowboys in 2024. After not playing in his 2023 rookie season due to an ACL injury, Overshown was thrust into the starting limelight and made the most of his new position.

This past season he started 12 of 13 games and finished the year with 90 combined tackles, eight tackles for loss, five QB hits, 5.0 sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, an interception and four passes defended.

The future looks bright for Overshown - or should we say, "Agent 0."
