FRISCO - By the time your Dallas Cowboys get to Week 14 of this seemingly lost NFL season, you might need some added distraction or extra incentive to keep you involved in the goings-on of "America's Team.''
Enter ... "The Simpsons''?
During last night's Week 8 "Monday Night Football" win by the Pittsburgh Steelers over the New York Giants, ESPN announced an update on a future broadcast that figures to add some comic relief to a game involving two teams that have so far caused their fans mostly 2024 grief.
It'll be the Cowboys vs. the Cincinnati Bengals matching in Week 14. ... and ESPN has announced that the Week 14 "Monday Night Football" game will also feature a Simpsons-themed "alternate cast'' on Disney+ and ESPN+.
"It's Bart and the Bengals versus Homer and the Cowboys live from Springfield," ESPN said in its announcement of the cartoon add for the Dec. 9 game.
We're not completely sure how it all works or what it all means. But we know that if the Cowboys, who are currently at 3-4 as they are licking their wounds after coming off a "Sunday Night Football" loss at the San Francisco 49ers, continue to skid?
The network might need to offer up some extra incentive to watch Jerry Jones' team, which has now lost back-to-back games.
Yes, the Dak Prescott-led Cowboys will have a opportunities to get this thing back on track, but they are about to continue the gauntlet portion of their schedule, with their Week 9 opponent the division-leading Atlanta Falcons.
By the way, again, the Bengals aren't in any better shape. They are 3-5 after having been blown out on Sunday in a 37-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
So football, cartoons, dancing girls, valuable prizes ... whatever keeps us tuned in, NFL, go for it.
