Dallas Goedert and Blankenship's Week 3 showings etch them in rare Eagles air

What a day! Heck, what a morning! Once most of you read this, more than 24 hours will have elapsed since the Philadelphia Eagles rallied to topple the Saints in New Orleans, and all we keep thinking about is that 61-yard catch and run by Dallas Goedert.

We won't lie (and, please don't kill us for this). We were skeptical when Philly's offense took the field with less than two minutes remaining and needing a touchdown to win.

DeVonta Smith wasn't available. The offense hadn't done much all day in terms of scoring, and frankly, these are the situations Philly often fails in.

But, that was before four of the best plays we've seen all season happened! Take a walk down Memory's Lane with us.

Saquon Barkley also scored on a two-point conversion attempt to ensure a late field-goal attempt by the Saints would only tie Philly on the scoreboard. It wouldn't matter. Reed Blankenship's pick would serve as the dagger.

His interception was the final highlight in a hard-fought Eagles win. His and Dallas Goedert's performances placed them in some rarified air.

Dallas Goedert and Reed Blankenship's Week 3 performances ensure they'll be remembered for quite some time.

Give him a game ball! It was the best game of Dallas Goedert's career and one we'll remember for a while. Ten receptions and 170 yards receiving aren't just personal bests. They represent the best day by an Eagles tight end since 1965. 170 yards receiving is a franchise record for a tight end. Talk about etching one's name in the history books!

Reed also had a day. He notched two tackles. Both were of the solo variety. He also broke up a pass and intercepted another.

That game-clinching pick is his sixth in his first 28 starts. The only other Eagle to have done the same is Eric Allen, a franchise legend. Allen should be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame by the way. We just thought we'd throw that in there.

Reed and Dallas can celebrate for a few more hours. Then, it's time to put this one behind them. They will be counted on again next week. The Birds have another tough road test scheduled versus a very good Tampa Bay Buccaneers squad.
