A video went viral in 2023 when Jrue Holiday and Damian Lillard were caught having a conversation prior to the Boston Celtics-Milwaukee Bucks matchup.
Many were curious with what the two were talking about, and threw out theories about Lillard trying to get Holiday to play in Milwaukee or Holiday recruiting Lillard to Boston.
It turns out, they weren’t trying to recruit the other to play for their team, but rather an issue Lillard had while living in the home he rented from Holiday in Milwaukee.
“When I lived in Milwaukee, I rented his house for two years so we talked a lot. Like, I was complaining to him about the WiFi,” Lillard told reporters on Wednesday. “There’s a clip online. I shake his hand, we played them in Boston, we had an interaction and people were like ‘What?’ And we were literally talking about his WiFi at his house.”
Now, both are teammates for the first time in their careers on the Trail Blazers after the Celtics traded Holiday and Portland and Lillard signed a contract to return to his former team this summer.
While Holiday, barring any injuries between now and Opening Night, is expected to be ready when the Trail Blazers open their season, Lillard will be watching from the bench as he recovers from a torn Achilles.
