The New Orleans Saints are making a list and checking it twice. That list is potential head coach candidates who they want to interview in the coming weeks.
One name has stood out for quite some time when it comes to New Orleans' opening. Aaron Glenn is a former assistant and coach for the Saints, and they have interest in the upcoming, impressive coach.
The Detroit Lions head coach gleamed regarding his defensive coordinator on Tuesday.
"Aaron Glenn is -- he's as good a coach as you're going to find. He's an even better human being. If nobody wants him, I'll take him again. The thought of him going through another cycle and he's not somebody's head coach is ridiculous."
The guy is as good as they come & he can do it all."
-- Dan Campbell on Aaron Glenn
It's clear that Campbell wants Glenn to take the next step in his pro coaching career. There is no doubt that he will miss him from his coaching staff, but he also wants to see him get an opportunity he deserves.
Glenn was a highly respected assistant for years under Sean Payton, leading to his arrival in Detroit as their DC. Since then, he has helped rebuild the Lions defense into one of the toughest to play against in the NFC.
For the Saints, they certainly have notable interest in Glenn, so it will be intriguing to see if he needs up back in black and gold. For now, Glenn is focused on helping his Lions make a playoff run.
Regardless, he will get a chance to interview for the Saints' HC opening.
