Dan Quinn Speaks 'Truth' to Slumping Commanders

Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn isn't about to throw the baby out with the bath water as the team goes through a tough stretch.

The Washington Commanders had the NFL world at their feet just a few weeks ago, but three straight losses have the franchise hitting the skids for the first time in the Dan Quinn era.

After a blistering start that saw Washington race out to a 7-2 record, the Commanders were the media darlings, but we know how fickle the NFL can be and it doesn't take long for the league to humble you.

That is what the Commanders are going through, and now comes the time for the locker room to come together and ride this out.

Head coach Dan Quinn spoke of not riding the emotional rollercoaster earlier in the year, and there can be no denying that its struggle city for Washington.

But Quinn is relishing this adversity and made a point to his locker room not to overreact to what has transpired in the last three weeks.

“I told them three months in, and nothing's been decided, and that absolutely fires me up,” Quinn said. “You can talk of standards in good times but now is the time where culture and what you're about is really defined, so you got to live it. We went through the truth with the guys, the identity piece the running, the hitting, the physicality just every time we play I want you guys to see that and feel that and our fans to see that and feel that. Sometimes you can get tight to want to overtry and we're not going to do that.”

The Commanders face the plucky Tennessee Titans next before a much-needed bye to refresh and finish the last stretch of the season.

Sitting at 7-4, the Commanders are still in playoff contention, but the Titans, having just slayed the Houston Texans, present a difficult challenge.

Going into the bye week on a four-game losing streak isn't ideal, so the Commanders will hope to get back on the winner's list and put this tough stretch firmly behind them as they look to punch their ticket to the postseason.
