Davante Adams' Cryptic Comments Spark Rumors of Packers Reunion

Davante Adams left the frozen tundra at Lambeau Field only to find out that the grass often isn't greener -- particularly in the desert of Las Vegas and the cityscape of New York, where there isn't much vegetation to begin with.

Davante Adams' Cryptic Comments Spark Rumors of Packers Reunion

Adams left the Green Bay Packers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers to join the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022. The wideout subsequently played for two head coaches, watched the franchise bench/trade away his college teammate Derek Carr and go on to earn a 16-24 overall record across his two and a half seasons there.

By that point, Adams had enough and asked out. The Raiders eventually traded him to the New York Jets, where he reunited with Rodgers. This time, however, they achieved little success. New York finished the year 5-12 and most indications point to Rodgers playing elsewhere in 2025 or retiring.

How Rodgers and/or the Jets organization handles the QB's future could have some impact on where Adams plays next season -- or perhaps not. However, the six-time Pro Bowler made some cryptic comments on the Tuesday, January 14 edition of the "Up & Adams" show with Kay Adams that sparked speculation he may be looking for a return to Green Bay.

"It's looking right now like they might need some receiver help in one way or the other," Adams said. "Maybe a veteran or something. We'll see."

The Packers lost deep threat Christian Watson to a torn ACL ahead of their Super Wild Card Weekend playoff loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Wideouts Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed also exited Sunday's game with injuries.

Green Bay has a wide array of depth and talent in the receiver room, though the group is young and there may not be a true No. 1 option among them. The only way for Adams to return to the Packers at this stage would be a trade, though the Jets may be open to that if Green Bay is willing to include one or two of its young talents in a consolidation deal this offseason.
