After months of speculation, Davante Adams, who was traded to the New York Jets on Tuesday, will suit up for his new team for the first time on Sunday night when the Jets take on the Pittsburgh Steelers.
During his weekly guest appearance on the "Up & Adams" show, Adams confirmed to host Kay Adams that the Buffalo Bills, Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints were also among his preferred destinations.
"Those are the ones that got involved," Davante Adams said. "Those are the ones that I wrote down on a little piece of paper and handed to the general manager. Those are the ones that were interested. It just so happened that the Jets were my No. 1 choice and they were probably the most interested."
When asked whether the Las Vegas Raiders' hated division rivals — the Kansas City Chiefs — were on his list, Adams gave a direct answer.
"Negative," Adams admitted. "That was talked about but ... I don't want to say anything crazy, but the Chiefs were not on the list."
Safe to say, at least part of the reasoning behind the decision to avoid Kansas City had to do with their presence in the AFC West division — and pushing the NFL's reigning champions closer to a potential Super Bowl three-peat.
Entering Week 7, the Chiefs (5-0) are one of the league's two remaining undefeated teams, while the Raiders (2-4) sit in last place in the division.
