The New York Jets are in deep trouble. They came into the season with high expectations, mainly due to Aaron Rodgers' return from injury. However, 10 weeks into the season, and New York is at 3-7 with a slim chance of even sniffing a Wild Card spot.
The Jets tried to salvage the season by trading for Rodgers' former teammate Davante Adams. However, that trade has so far not given them a lot of positive results. New York is just 1-3 after the acquisition of Adams.
To make matters worse, Adams dealt with a couple of health problems last week. He nursed a sore wrist after their Week 10 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Additionally, the Jets WR suffered from a nasty stomach bug this week.
Thankfully, Adams is seemingly ready to go for their Week 11 clash against the Indianapolis Colts. The Jets WR is carrying a questionable designation, but Adams assured fans that he'll be ready to play.
“This team is relying on me. That’s why I’m here — to help the team win,” Adams said, via The New York Post. “It’s my 11th year playing in the league. I know the difference between being hurt and being injured — and if I’m not injured, I’m going to be out there.”
The Jets have a 13% chance of making the playoffs, according to NFL.com. That is far from what fans expected from the team entering the season. New York was pegged to be a dark horse contender this season, with a solid defense and an offense boosted by the return of Rodgers.
Instead, the Jets' season has been quite a mess. They've fired head coach Robert Saleh partway through the season due to their struggles. The arrival of Adams should have, in theory, boosted their offense to help them win games.
It hasn't quite panned out. Adams has been solid for the Jets, though he's only connected for one TD with Rodgers and has 204 yards in four games. Good numbers, yes, but it hasn't been enough to drag the Jets out of the rut they find themselves in.
A win over the Colts should help them gain more footing in the playoff race. However, that's definitely easier said than done, especially with the form this team has shown recently.
