Dave Roberts Sends Strong Message After Dodgers’ Humiliating Loss to Cubs

The Los Angeles Dodgers hit a low point Saturday night-and the timing couldn't have been worse. After a promising start to the season, the team suffered a 16-0 blowout at home against the Chicago Cubs, marking their largest shutout loss in half a century.

The Dodgers entered the seventh inning trailing just 2-0 before unraveling in dramatic fashion. The Cubs poured on 14 runs across the final three innings, handing L.A. its first loss at Dodger Stadium this year.

But manager Dave Roberts isn't panicking. In fact, he had a pointed message for anyone expecting the team to dwell on it.

"For me, right now, it's just the mindset of trying to forget this one and win the series," Roberts said postgame. "I feel really good about [Sunday] and [Tyler] Glasnow taking the mound and having a fully stocked pen."

Ben Casparius, who had been spotless in nine innings of relief this season, was tagged for six runs in less than two innings. Even so, Roberts stood by his pitcher.

"I'm not going to put too much credence into one rough outing," he said.

The Dodgers will turn to Glasnow to close the series, despite his recent struggles in Philadelphia and a career 10.61 ERA against the Cubs.

After Saturday night's collapse, all eyes are on how the Dodgers respond. And Roberts has made it clear: they're not looking back.
