DeAndre Hopkins took an accidental shot at Titans after signing with Ravens

This kind of hurt.

When the Tennessee Titans traded wideout DeAndre Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs last season, it made sense why the veteran wanted to leave. The fit also made sense between he and Kansas City.

The Chiefs needed help at the position after multiple injuries, and Hopkins obviously preferred to go somewhere to try and win a Super Bowl. Coming up just short of that goal, Hopkins then entered the 2025 offseason as a free agent.

As it turns out, Hopkins stuck around in the AFC and still has a chance at a Super Bowl after he signed with the Baltimore Ravens.

During his first meeting with the Baltimore media, Hopkins was asked what drew him to coming to the Ravens. He spoke highly of the Ravens organization and, in doing so, sort of took a subtle shot at the Titans.

DeAndre Hopkins probably didn't mean to take a shot at the Titans

Thanks to Ravens reporter Sarah Ellison, we've got the juiciest part of the quote.

"Sh--, Coach Harbaugh, man.

"Lamar [Jackson], Derrick [Henry]. Derrick and I talked throughout the year. That's one of my best friends, and he keeps it honest.

"So, sh--, from the head coach down, I feel like everyone, sh--, they compete. They're dawgs. I feel like this organization, this team, matches who I am."

At first glance, this is just a veteran speaking highly of a couple of his friends in Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry. Obviously, he and Henry were teammates in Tennessee for a short time and grew even closer, so the conversations they had all last season only seemed to make sense in adding up to where we're at today.

Hopkins is a Raven because he's close with Henry, but also because of how much he respects the Ravens organization.

In saying that the organization matches who he is, did that subtly call out the Titans for not exaclty being on the same page? If so, that's fine. The Titans are not, in fact, on the same level as the Ravens.

There is a reason Tennessee owns the no. 1 overall pick. This team isn't close to being a Super Bowl contender like Hopkins' most recent stops. But, hearing the words come out of his mouth don't make Titans fans feel any better.

Now, that's not to say he meant to take a shot at Tennessee. Hopkins had always been very respectful of the organization. He even honored the Titans with his first Chiefs score. Heck, the man always referred to Amy Adams Strunk as "Miss Amy." He had a great deal of respect for this front office and organization as a whole. So, I don't think he meant it in poor taste.

But again, Titans fans could only dream of being in the same breath as Baltimore right now.
