Deion Sanders Makes First Official Comments on Dallas Cowboys Rumors

It's a move that has long been speculated, but with a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday night during the wild-card playoff game between the Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings. the speculation started to look like it could become a reality.

Deion Sanders' future at Colorado in question as key players head to NFL | Marca

That reality may be one where Deion Sanders, the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, takes over as the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, replacing Mike McCarthy after he was let go on Monday.

The report from Schefter shows that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and Sanders have talked about the possibility of Coach Prime coming to Dallas, and that there was mutual interest on both sides.

Now, just a couple of hours after the report came out, Sanders has made his first public statements on the matter.

According to Schefter, Sanders had this to say about the rumors:

“To hear from Jerry Jones is truly delightful, and it’s intriguing,” Deion Sanders told ESPN on Monday night. “I love Jerry and believe in Jerry. After you hang up, and process it, and think about it, it’s intriguing. But I love Boulder and everything there is about our team, the coaches, our student body and the community.”

It makes complete sense for Sanders to move on from the Buffs after this year, seeing as his son, Shedeur Sanders, is headed to the 2025 NFL Draft, has is Colorado Heisman winner Travis Hunter.

Sanders spent two years in Boulder, and elevated his brand two-fold by showing that he can succeed at a Power 4 level in college football.

Now it appears that he has interest in trying his hand coaching at the NFL level, and it makes total sense that his first spot would be in Dallas. Sanders played for the Cowboys from 1995-1999, winning Super Bowl XXX.

It's a marriage that seems to make sense, and would not at all be surprising to see come to fruition.
