Despite all odds and nobody believing in the Minnesota Vikings, they have taken the first major step toward winning their first-ever Super Bowl championship.
The Vikings have made the playoffs after the Green Bay Packers defeated the Seattle Seahawks 30-13 on Sunday night football.
It's been a long road for the Vikings to earn the playoff spot, especially when you consider their preseason win total. The sportsbooks had the Vikings with a win total of 6.5 games and they surpassed that in week 10 with a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
How little were the Vikings believed in? ESPN analytics only had the Vikings with a 14% chance to make the playoffs.
The entire season for the Vikings has been a fantastic ride. They started 5-0 and went into their bye week undefeated with quarterback Sam Darnold on a heater. That ended up cooling down after the bye week with two straight losses before three up-and-down wins. After those games, Darnold once again went on a heater and has been playing at an MVP level.
Just because the Vikings have officially made the playoffs doesn't mean they are going to win the division. However, it did become easier on Sunday afternoon when the Buffalo Bills defeated the Detroit Lions 48-42, meaning the Vikings now control their own destiny for the NFC North crown.
Even if the Vikings don't win the division, getting into the dance is still a big deal, as you can't win the Super Bowl without making the playoffs.
