The Detroit Lions have been winning like crazy this year. With that comes a lot of high expectancy. With high expectancy comes a ton of hate when what was expected doesn't happen.
You had to know it was going to happen. It doesn't matter who handed the Lions their next loss, they were going to be called frauds after it. Talking heads are going to get on TV this coming week and they're going to call this team pretenders. The Lions will slide down the power rankings and suddenly everyone will forget all the good things they've done. It's all bologna.
The fact of the matter is this changes nothing when it comes to the direction of this team. They're a very good football team that has been beaten down by injuries and the Bills attacked the one spot that the Lions have been the most ravaged at.
This loss doesn't erase the fact that the Lions won 11 straight games or that they've beaten five winning teams this year. Four of which will be heading to the playoffs. They've done it at home and on the road.
This team has done everything you'd want to see a Super Bowl winning team do, they just couldn't do what only seven other teams in NFL history have done and that's finish the season with just one loss.
The Lions do need to get healthy and they luckily will be doing that at the right time. That is going to help them out a lot. Maybe they don't get that first seed, maybe they do. At the end of the day, this team hasn't lost on the road this year. They can travel and they can win anywhere.
You might feel tempted to say the sky is falling and I know some will. some definitely did last year when the Lions had a bit of a lull in late November and early December. That team broke out of the lull and went to the NFC Championship game. This team has shown to be better than that team in a lot of metrics.
So calm yourselves if you're a Lions fan that is worried and maybe learn a little more about this team if you're not.
