Rookie wide receiver Dominic Lovett (abdominal), defensive lineman Pat O’Connor (leg) and offensive tackle Jamarco Jones (ankle) left early and are being checked out, per team officials.

O’Connor suffered his injury on what appeared to be some friendly fire on a kickoff drill. Jones, who was working first-team left tackle, appeared to get rolled up on and bent awkwardly before limping off.

Giovanni Manu took over for Jones on the first-team offensive line at left tackle. Dan Skipper (ankle) is out for the next week, and Taylor Decker (shoulder) is working his way back from offseason shoulder surgery.

It’s not clear what happened with Lovett. He was working in one-on-one drills to the side, then was not spotted for the rest of practice.

The Lions have another preseason game fast approaching. They’ll head to Atlanta to face the Falcons on Friday night, so these players are worth monitoring for that exhibition.

Lovett played a team-leading 36 offensive snaps in the preseason opener against the Los Angeles Chargers last week. He played another 10 on special teams, handling some kick and punt returns.

The seventh-round rookie wideout caught five passes on nine targets for 31 yards in the showing. He was likely in line for another heavy role, but an abdominal injury to monitor puts his potential workload for Friday night in question. The Lions will have a walkthrough on Tuesday before returning to practice Wednesday, when an update on these three should be provided.
