The Detroit Lions spent a great deal of resources beefing up their secondary during the 2024 offseason, with the team making a trade, drafting two cornerbacks, and signing another to bolster the unit.

So far, so good for Detroit on that front this season, as Carlton Davis and Terrion Arnold have played well on the boundary, and Amik Robertson has had a strong showing in the slot.
But the Lions may have a question mark at cornerback in 2025, as Davis is set to be a free agent and there's no telling if rookie cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr. will be able to step into the job, as we haven't seen much of the Missouri product, who is serving in a backup role.
Knowing that, Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox believes the Lions could be players for Buffalo Bills cornerback Rasul Douglas, who is in the final year of a three-year, $21 million deal.
The Lions should also be interested in adding a veteran corner like Douglas. Detroit ranks just 29th in passing yards allowed this season and could potentially lose starter Carlton Davis in 2025 free agency.
Douglas has proven to be a serviceable starter during his career and would be a good and reasonably priced insurance policy to have just in case Rakestraw Jr. doesn't pan out.
The veteran corner has surrendered a completion rate of 60% and a passer rating of 97.9 when targeted entering Week 10. Douglas does his best work on the boundary, but he's also capable of kicking inside if need be, so he'd be a versatile option for Detroit.
In the event that Davis doesn't return for a second season in Detroit, the Lions have to protect themselves just in case Rakestraw doesn't become the long-term answer the Lions are hoping he'll be. Douglas would offer a strong stopgap option for Detroit.
