Detroit Lions running back duo Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery are continuing their second careers as Hollywood stars ... sort of.
Faygo, a Detroit beverage company, released a new ad on X depicting the two running backs enjoying blue and pink versions of the locally famous pop.
Gibbs and Montgomery (nicknamed Sonic and Knuckles, respectively) have been the team's top rushers since 2023, forming one of the best rushing tandems in the NFL. Gibbs finished in a three-way tie atop the NFL touchdown leaderboard with 16 in 2024, while Montgomery eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards for the second time in his career in 2023.
They also became the first running back duo in NFL history to each rush for at least 10 touchdowns in consecutive seasons for the same team.
Both are expected to play a huge role for the Lions offense in 2025, as the Lions had the sixth-most rushing yards (2,488) of any NFL team in 2024.
But before that, they share a role as the star of their own commercial:
Gibbs and Montgomery are not the only Lions who have starred in commercials. Aidan Hutchinson showed off his acting chops (and ballet skills) in a 2024 State Farm spot, while both Jared Goff and Amon-Ra St. Brown have been in commercials for Cure Auto Insurance.
This isn't even the first time Gibbs and Montgomery have starred together in a commercial. During the 2024 Thanksgiving game against the Chicago Bears, the two running backs were depicted as Sonic and Knuckles in a tie-in for the 2024 film Sonic The Hedgehog 3.
