Dez Bryant clashes with Troy Aikman, demands Mike McCarthy be fired

Dez has seen enough of McCarthy in Dallas.

Houston Texans v Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys have graduated from being a bad team. They are now a thoroughly rotten, embarrassing team that will struggle to win any more games for the remainder of the 2024 season. Mike McCarthy looks lost, and Dak Prescott's injury looks to be too much to overcome.

The Cowboys were humiliated by a 34-10 scoreline at home thanks to a solid showing from the Houston Texans. Due to dropped Cooper Rush interceptions, and a passing game that was out of sync, Houston should have, by all rights, won by an even wider margin. McCarthy's season just keeps getting worse.

Cowboys great Troy Aikman was not willing to keep beating this particular dead horse, claiming instead that McCarthy has proven he can be a good coach based on his time with the Packers. Bryant was not going to let that take slide, as he believes the McCarthy era is totally and utterly cooked beyond repair.

Bryant told Aikman to "chill out" after his bold proclamation, saying that this game should bring about the end of the McCarthy era in Dallas. Anyone who watched the last two games with Rush under center can see that whatever McCarthy is trying to do with this team simply isn't hitting home.

Dez Bryant calls out Troy Aikman, want Cowboys to fire Mike McCarthy

What McCarthy defenders like Aikman don't seem to get is that much of his success with the Packers can be credited to having an all-time quarterback in Aaron Rodgers in his prime. Rodgers gave McCarthy a tremendous floor, and their relationship soured to the point where McCarthy was cut loose.

McCarthy picked up an already-developed Prescott, whom he rode to three straight 12-win seasons in Dallas. With Prescott both hurt and not playing like an MVP candidate when he was healthy, the flaws in McCarthy's extremely antiquated offense (allegedly his specialty) have started to pop up.

While the Cowboys shouldn't be expected to win much with Rush as the starting quarterback, they need to put up a better fight than this. With Rush regressing and defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer looking like an equally dated football fossil, the winds of change very clearly need to come sweeping through Dallas.

The Cowboys have talent, as Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Micah Parsons are among the best of the best at their positions. No roster with this much talent should be this bad, though McCarthy's inept in-game management gives voices like Bryant a ton of ammunition against him.
