The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made perhaps the shrewdest signing of free agency after agreeing to a one-year, $14 million deal with pass rushing monster Haason Reddick.
With the Buccaneers in desperate need to get more bite from their defensive line, Reddick comes to Tampa with the grit between his teeth and a chip on his shoulder to prove the NFL world that last season was a flash in the pan.
After four straight seasons of 11+ sacks, and back-to-back Pro Bowl nods, Reddick made his way to the New York Jets, but he wanted a new contract and held out of training camp and half the season to get a deal he never did get.
Now with the Buccaneers, some question whether or not Reddick can get back to being "the" guy who tormented offensive lines for four straight years.
"[The] only thing on my mind is moving forward, looking to the future and looking forward to what I can bring to the team here," Reddick said via ESPN. " I know that everybody is worried about last year, but last year is last year, right? I'm here now. Different mindset, different space, just ready to put the past behind me and continue to move forward, and what better place to do it than here?"
Sometimes change is as good as a holiday and for Reddick, he's got a lot to prove to the outer NFL world.
Once seen as one of the most dominant pass rushers in football, the last 12 months have seen the shine come off his production a touch.
So the Buccaneers have gotten perhaps the best of both worlds. They get help with their pass rush, and get a star player who is ready to prove the doubters wrong after an indifferent 2024.
Make no mistake about it, the Buccaneers will be getting a "different" Reddick in 2025, and that is nightmare fuel for the NFL.
