Discussion: How many yards will Amon-Ra St. Brown have vs. the Buccaneers

Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown had a quiet opening game of the 2024 season. He finished with just three catches for 17 yards in a winning effort over the Los Angeles Rams.

Amon-Ra St. Brown feels rematch with Bucs will be 'completely different game' – The Oakland Press

St. Brown told the media this week that he doesn’t really care about the production, as long as the team is winning.

“A win is the most important thing for us to get to where we need to go, one week at a time,” St. Brown said. “Obviously, you’d love to have catches and whatnot, yards, but we found a way to win.”

But we all know St. Brown and the competitive nature he has. So as the Lions get ready to face off against the Buccaneers for the third time in less than a calendar year, you know the fourth-year receiver is ready to put up a performance we’ve all become accustomed to.

So today’s Question of the Day is:

How many receiving yards will St. Brown have against the Buccaneers this week?

My answer: Let’s dig into some statistics.

Last year, St. Brown averaged 94.7 yards per game, and he was right around that level of production in his two matchups against the Buccaneers last year. In the Week 6 matchup, St. Brown had 12 catches for 124 yards and a touchdown. In the Divisional Round game, St. Brown hauled in eight catches for 77 yards and a touchdown.

Right now, FanDuel has St. Brown’s over/under set between 80 yards (-114) and 90 (+128). I’m going to take the over in both cases and say that St. Brown finished with 105 yards against the Buccaneers.

This has less to do with Tampa Bay. Yes, their secondary is beat up, but the only starter they may actually be missing on Sunday is safety Antoine Winfield Jr. Granted, that’s a pretty huge deal, but I’m not sure it’ll affect St. Brown’s output. Instead, I think Jared Goff and St. Brown find that chemistry that they seemed to be oddly lacking last week.
