DK Metcalf Sends Strong Seahawks Message After Steelers Trade

DK Metcalf didn’t hold back when discussing his departure from Seattle.

The former Seahawks wide receiver was traded last week to the Pittsburgh Steelers, as Seattle sent Metcalf and a sixth-round pick (No. 185) to Pittsburgh in exchange for a second-round pick (No. 52), while also picking up a seventh-rounder (No. 223) in the process.

Metcalf, a two-time Pro Bowler and one of the most physically dominant receivers in the league, made sure everyone knew exactly how he felt about leaving Seattle.

"Grass is greener on the other side," Metcalf said bluntly during an appearance on the "Get Got Pod" with Marshawn Lynch and Michael Robinson.

That’s a strong statement from a player who had been one of the faces of the Seahawks franchise since they drafted him in 2019.

But after years of inconsistency at quarterback and Seattle’s struggles to stay competitive in a tough NFC West, it’s clear Metcalf is ready for a fresh start.

The move to Pittsburgh pairs him with another young star in George Pickens, giving the Steelers one of the most exciting wide receiver duos in the league.

And while there’s still uncertainty about who will be throwing them the ball, one thing is for sure—Pittsburgh is committed to surrounding their next quarterback with top-tier weapons.

Metcalf, who finished the 2024 season with 66 catches for 992 yards and five touchdowns, is one of just two receivers in NFL history, alongside Randy Moss, to start his career with at least 50 catches, 900 yards, and five touchdowns in each of his first six seasons.
