Dodgers Could Trade $27 Million Infielder To Shocking AL Club In Blockbuster Deal

The Los Angeles Dodgers recently signed infielder Hye-Seong Kim out of South Korea to further crowd the team's infield. Kim joins six or seven other infielders in a Dodgers dugout that doesn't need to roster so many players.

That means Los Angeles will likely look to trade one of these infielders with the most likely one to go being Gavin Lux. Lux slashed .251/.320/.383 with 24 doubles and 10 home runs in 2024. He's under team control through the 2026 season.

Teams like the New York Yankees and Atlanta Braves have emerged as suitors for the versatile infielder. However, these two teams are far from the only potential suitors.

MLB Network's Jon Morosi revealed an additional suitor for Lux who hasn't previously been mentioned.

"The (Seattle) Mariners have checked with the Dodgers about the availability of Gavin Lux, as we discussed on MLB Network this morning," Morosi wrote in a post to Twitter/X. "The Dodgers have 6 middle infielders on their 40-man roster: (Tommy) Edman, (Mookie) Betts, Lux, Kim, (Chris) Taylor, (Miguel) Rojas."

The Mariners need to add offense in a big way. Seattle has one of the best farm systems in the game right now, so it wouldn't be much of an issue to acquire talent.

A player like Lux would make perfect sense for Seattle because he's affordable and productive. The Mariners need infielders and Lux would provide them with a versatile defender who can post an OPS much better than a lot of players on their roster.
