Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani is not in Saturday’s lineup because he is on paternity leave. He did not travel with the Dodgers to Arlington for the team’s series with the Texas Rangers.
Here’s the full Dodgers lineup for Saturday’s game:
- Tommy Edman, 2B
- Mookie Betts, SS
- Freddie Freeman, 1B
- Teoscar Hernández, RF
- Michael Conforto, LF
- Will Smith, C
- Max Muncy, 3B
- Eddie Rosario, DH
- Andy Pages, CF
Manager Dave Roberts is not certain when Ohtani will return, but a player on paternity leave is allowed to miss no more than three games.
“He and Mamiko are expecting at some point,” Roberts said to The Orange County Register’s Bill Plunkett. “That’s all I know. I don’t know when he’s going to come back. I don’t know when they’re going to have the baby. But obviously they are together in anticipation.”
Roki Sasaki will be on the mound for the Dodgers. The right-hander has a 3.29 ERA with 12 strikeouts across 13.2 innings pitched.
Sasaki threw a career-high five innings in his last start against the Chicago Cubs, but it was overshadowed by the Dodgers suffering their worst home loss in franchise history.
