Dodgers Placing Tanner Scott on Injured List as Nightmare Season Continues

Right-handed reliever Alexis Diaz is replacing him on the active roster.

Scott, 31, joined the Dodgers on a four-year, $72 million deal this past offseason after earning All-Star honors in 2024 with the Miami Marlins before getting traded to the San Diego Padres midseason.

However, Scott has failed to recapture his success from last season, sporting a 4.14 ERA with a league-leading seven blown saves.

Scott left Monday night’s game in the top of the ninth inning after throwing his 22nd pitch of the night. After the game, Roberts said he was likely going on the injured list.

“The manual tests were good,” Roberts said. “So hopefully it’s something that’s more of a scare and then we can kind of put him on ice for a little bit and get him back.”

On Tuesday, Roberts confirmed Scott was going on the IL, but said the team is still waiting on MRI results. The team believes Scott is “in a better” spot than they thought on Monday night.

“Much better than last night,” Roberts said. “His emotions are in a good spot. We’re putting him on the IL, just given the way he feels, we’re in a better spot than we were last night.”

As for Diaz, the former All-Star is looking to make his Dodgers debut after being acquired earlier this season in a trade with the Cincinnati Reds.

The 2023 All-Star closer has struggled at Triple-A Oklahoma City, sporting a 6.75 ERA with seven walks and six strikeouts over 6.2 innings.
